Setting up my first Microsoft WebMatrix 2 site.

I badly need a site manager to hold my Microsoft Ligthswitch application! Before I used a lot of CMS, e.g., Dotnetnuke, etc., etc.  And then comes the new Microsoft Webmatrix 2 with a StarterSite template which you can download for free.

This made web development for ASP.NET platform so much easy and fun.  All you have to do is to create a site using the templates available in WebMatrix 2.  I use the Starter Site template a lot.  Here is the link on how to create and secure a site using the  WebMatrix 2 Starter Site

After implementing all the needed settings and tinkering with the colors and content for my WebMatrix site, which took me only two days, its time to upload it to my hosting:  To publish, just use the Web Deploy, that’s it.

After publishing you may encounter errors due to the fact that Microsoft WebMatrix 2 is new.  The most common error is the”The connection name ‘LocalSqlServer’ was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty.”

The solution is very simple, just modify the web.config file at the root directory by adding the following entries inside the configuration tag.

        <remove name="LocalSqlServer" />
        <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\App_Data\StarterSite.sdf" providerName="System.Data.SqlServerCe.4.0" />
        <add key="enableSimpleMembership" value="true" />
